About Us

Owners Jennifer McKinstry and Steve Andrews with Doctors Jack and Tess Clarkson

Steve Andrews and Jennifer McKinstry purchased the wonderful and historic 113 S. Main Street building from doctors Jack and Tess Clarkson in the Fall of 2024.

Dr. Jack: Tell us about yourselves. Steve I understand that you’re been a horse professional for 15 years and did two operations in Iraq in the US Army.

Steve: Both true and we look forward to being of service to Tom’s Western Store High School and Little Britches Rodeo and we’ll be enjoying the amazing trails of Sleepy Hollow State Park. During my time learning my professional skills I enjoyed the opportunity to serve the prestigious Busch Family, Atwood Ranches, and the Parelli Natural Horseman Corporation.

Dr. Jack: You both expressed how perfect your location is.

Jenny: We love this area. My godparents are doctors Jack and Tess Clarkson - our family came from Williamston and we were brought up to this area to pontoon, ride horses, attend barn dances, and more. Ovid has always been fun and exciting to us. In a two block radius is the Ovid Cafe, Main Street Pizza, Main Bar, two salons and a barber, antique store, and Trinity Church which we can use as a wedding chapel. There is also a fantastic grocery store, library, and laser tag venue. That’s incredible!

Steve: It’s minutes from the Owosso Speedway, Sleepy Hollow State Park, Rails to Trails, Peacock Road Family Farm (and other incredible wedding venues), and only a half hour from Michigan State University events, games and performances.

Dr. Jack: We understand you, Jenny came from a sports background?

Jenny: My dad Paul Nilsson was a sponsored marathon runner (Reebok), National Cross Country Coach of the year, and founder of the Williamston Track & Field dynasty. He is also in the Greater Lansing Area Sports Hall of Fame. My twin sister Alise and I were all-state. My Mom served as the Williamston Township Treasurer for multiple terms.

Steve: My parents Deb and Gary are high school sweethearts and live in Wacousta. Deb had a 28-year career in special education and Gary worked for GM building cadillac and corvette engines. He uses his retirement for an array of farm activities including maple syrup, crops and cattle, and harvesting firewood for his family and the community.

Dr. Jack: What are your goals for the Ovid Inn?

Jenny: The hospitality industry can be exploitative, expensive, and extravagant. We are none of those things. We want to lift up Ovid, solve the overnight accommodation dilemma in an affordable way, and support local youth. Historic preservation is also important to us.

Steve: We want to work towards a thriving downtown area, build community pride, create local jobs, partner with local businesses, and share our growth so everybody wins. Please visit us for a private tour any time!
